What is a direct debit?

Before you cancel a regular payment, you need to check whether it is recurring payment or a direct debit.

Recurring payment

A recurring payment is where you have given your MyCard credit card or Ready Credit account details (card number, expiry date and CVV) to allow a merchant or service provider to charge your card regularly to pay for the services they provide you.

The quickest way to cancel the recurring payment is by contacting the merchant directly.

If you have cancelled the recurring payment with the merchant but they continue to debit your account, you can contact us and we will help stop any future payments.

Direct debit (Autopay)

A direct debit is where you have nominated a bank account by providing the BSB and account number to allow us to debit the account to repay the MyCard credit card or Ready Credit account regularly.

If you need to cancel the direct debit, you can follow these steps:

Steps to cancel your direct debit payment

Instructions for web browsers and mobile devices

  1. Log in to the MyCard App or MyCard Online
  2. Tap Minimum payment
  3. Scroll to Autopay (Direct Debit)
  4. Tap Cancel
  5. Follow the prompts

Once the cancellation is complete, we will send you a written confirmation.

Please note, if you cancel your direct debit one day before the payment due date, then it may be too late to stop the direct debit for the payment that is due. Subsequent direct debits will remain cancelled.

Important things to consider

Cancelling your direct debit or recurring payment does not cancel your contract with us. If you still have an amount owing and you've cancelled a direct debit, you'll need to make alternate payment arrangements to repay the card.

If you're trying to cancel a direct debit for a MyCard credit card or Ready Credit account, the easiest thing to do is to call us on 13 24 84 (or +61 2 8225 0615 if overseas) with the relevant details.
